Learning the 5-1:  Rotation 4 [.gif of rotation 4]

Preparing to Serve
Now the setter has moved into the front row and your team must play with only two hitters in the front row.  The setter and outside hitter will switch positions so that the strong side hitter will be in a better position.  Also, notice that in the back row, with three players, the outside hitter and opposite setter are up to cover close balls and angle shots while the middle blocker stays in the back and covers long balls, picking up the trash.  After the transition, the setter slides over and has three good options to set:  short to the middle, long ball to the outside, or set the outside hitter in the back row for a crowd pleasing back row attack.

Preparing to Receive
In this rotation, the setter slides into setting position.  Things are not good in that your strong side hitter is on the wrong side.  However, the setter still has the middle attack and back row attack options.
